Week Three of Camp God. Our task for this week was making birthday cards for the members of our congregation. The children cut, glued, colored and folded. The results were pretty awesome if I do say so myself. One of our kids commented this week that service doesn't have to be "big stuff" - it is just something that helps someone else. My sentiments exactly.

Camp God

During the month of July the children are participating in Camp God. Camp God provides an opportunity for the children to see that missions can be within the walls of New World. After a time of singing (there is always singing with kids), a story, and offering, the children work for New World. Our first project was to separate the shoes collected for the Back to School project by size. Not a particularly easy job for our 4, 5 and 6 year olds. But it is done, the shoes are boxed and are waiting distribution on August 14.
UMCOR often asks for Health Kits to send to disaster sites. These bags consist of towels, combs, toothbrushes and other items to provide necessary health needs. Camp God kids assembled bags to send to Sager Brown center for distribution as they are needed.
Other projects for the summer are making birthday cards for members, cupcakes and cookies for Montclair and helping to sort school supplies. It'll be a busy few weeks.

Shake It Up Cafe

VBS saw children and adults "Shakin' It Up" as God's recipes for our lives were discovered. What fun!! Over 50 children learned to be followers of God by being ready, giving happily, believing fully and remembering Jesus.
What was the recipe for our success?
Begin with the key ingredient of great volunteers
Pour in plenty of creative crafts
Mix in hands-on mission work to help feed the hungry
Stir in sizzling food science
Sprinkle with sports
Season with snacks
Spread with great rockin' music
And cover with God's love
The resulting dish--a wonderful four days.
